Even before the New Year, a little more than a month, but already in Europe, Christmas markets began their work. Day after day, the streets of the cities are filled with the aromas of pine needles, gingerbread and hot mulled wine and punch! Europe, preparing for Christmas, is becoming like a fairy tale country. everything around is filled with joyful anticipation of something pleasant and magical!
Streets and squares turn into small "fantastic worlds" shining with hundreds of lights! Many tents offer their visitors crafts and gifts for every taste and budget.

Vienna is one of the capitals of Europe with a long tradition of Christmas markets. This is the Christmas Fair on the Town Hall Square, and the Christmas Village on Maria Theresa Square, and the Christ Child Christmas Market and many others.
If you want something more pompous and expensive - welcome to the Schönbrun Palace or the Belvedere. Here are expensive porcelain dolls and luxurious glass balls, romantic performances by musicians and the atmosphere of aristocratic Vienna!

On Maria Theresa Square you will also enjoy the crowded Christmas village. Here in tents they sell handicrafts, art products, gifts. Lovers of antiquity can visit the market on Freyung Square - it is the oldest in Vienna and the most traditional. Young people will be interested in the Christmas village on the university campus (Alserstrasse, 1), where they walk until night.
By the way, if you are at the Christmas Fair for the first time, consider one feature - the price for mulled wine (5-7 euros) almost always includes the cost of a mug into which this same mulled wine is poured. You can return the mug and get a refund for it (2-3 euros). Or you can keep a mug as a keepsake. And pour all subsequent portions into it. J
The atmosphere of celebration and fun will last until Christmas. There is another month ahead when you can enjoy the atmosphere of Christmas Europe.
